Peru - Briefe 1850

Peru, 1850 (June 30) entire letter from Callao send to the "Consul General de France á Lima" bearing a clear strike of the fancy framed "CALLAO" handstamp in black (Colareta 3, only recorded for 1851). PROBABLY THE EARLIEST RECORDED STRIKE OF THIS RARE POSTMARK. The letter was send by a french sailor in prison in Callao asking the French Consul for help. Very fine.
